Reliability Analysis:
Instructions and Overview

Thank you for agreeing to serve as a participant in the reliability testing of this online rubric. Your feedback and pilot testing of this rubric is invaluable and will assist us in developing a tool of more rigorous stature.

Your task is to complete two versions of the entire online rubric against two activities (one print and one web). The print version will be able to be downloaded and printed (if desired) and the web version will be viewable using your browser.

A [PDF]PDF version of the rubric is available for downloading and printing should you want to refer to it while evaluating the paper and online activity.

Caution: You'll need the latest version (5.0) of the free Acrobat Reader to view the PDF file. Please use the Help pop-up window to see instructions for viewing/printing the PDF file if needed.

1. Review the Rubric to familiarize yourself with its contents.
2. Review Activity 1: Print Activity: Patterns, Functions, and Algebra: Wired for Space (NASA Langley classroom PDF activity).
3. Complete the Rubric for Activity 1
4. Review Activity 2: Web Activity: Amazing Space-Whip up a batch of comets (Space Telescope Science Institute Activity).
5. Complete the Rubric for Activity 2.

Complete the information requested (name, activity type, etc.) and the entire rubric. You may use the open comment boxes beneath each section of the rubric to capture any concerns you may have. This will allow us to follow-up directly with you after the initial analysis has been completed.

We also would like to know how long it takes you to review each activity after you've familiarized yourself with the rubric initially, so please note the time before submitting the form. Please do not discuss your evaluation choices with anyone else until all reviewers have completed the pilot. Remember, you are not being evaluated in any way, but helping us to increase the overall reliability of our instrument/rubric!

Thanks and have fun!
