Advisory Board Meeting Number 1, May 18-19, 1999,
Holiday Inn National Airport at Crystal City

By: Al Byers and Sue Darnell Ellis

Conference Overview:

Joe Exline, NLIST PI/PD, CS3 Executive Secretary
CSSS is the most powerful organization-network within the states. CSSS needs not only to be experts in science, but consummate networkers, matching need with appropriate available resources. We want to become gate openers, and not focus on one area. Consider this not a specific or unique project, but the basis of all our work. This should be our vision. But, we must pursue this vision methodically. This is not the position of CSSS, but an idea. Once we have a product to evaluate we then need to get it out to the rest of the CSSS body. As state supervisors, it is our responsibility to get at these issues within our states. If we do not have clout or respect at the national level, then how shall we be able to implement changes at the state level.
