The Instructional Materials Rubric is a tool that has been developed to reflect the instructional perspective of the NLIST definition of Science as Inquiry as it relates to instructional materials. The Instructional Materials Rubric may be used to assess materials such as texts or procedural manuals in order to determine the level of science as inquiry being practiced in a classroom setting. Assistance in using this tool is provided in the Assessing Instructional Materials for Inquiry Workshop component of the NLIST Advancing Science as Inquiry professional development package.
